Countdown 4, 3, 2, 1. My official start date is the end of this week. I have a lot of organizing to do. My first trip will be the week of August 23rd, when I'll go to Tallahassee to do some additional research on the funding of the Sunland Centers and the published reasons for establishing, and later disbanding the centers. After a day or two there, I will head to Louisiana to visit the Hansen's Disease Hospital at Carville.

At a conference this past Saturday I learned of the Gulf Coast Centers in southwest Florida, which may also have been a destination for former Sunland residents. I will need to investigate these. I am looking forward to being off and running, hope I can keep my schedule straight. Each week will be 1-2 days of travel + research, two days of writing and setting up trips, and one day of clinical work. Following this I will submit posts weekly to track my week's activities.
